Real-Time Wind Telemetry for Sports Broadcasting

Measured designs wind telemetry systems for broadcast crews that need current conditions from the field. We build the sensor interface, connectivity, and enclosure around the event workflow, then deliver readings to the systems your team uses. Our published sports deployment delivers wind data from the sensor to the broadcast booth in under one second.

A wired path through a crowded venue

Large crowds can make wireless connectivity unpredictable. For the documented broadcast project, Measured used hardwired Ethernet to carry wind readings without relying on venue Wi-Fi or LTE. Connectivity is a design decision based on where the sensor sits and how the broadcast team receives its data.

  • Custom circuit board matched to the sensor and power requirements
  • Ethernet connectivity and durable CNLinko cable connectors
  • Sub-second sensor-to-booth latency in the published deployment

Hardware made for repeated setup and teardown

The broadcast devices use compact enclosures printed in carbon fiber reinforced ASA, with threaded inserts and rubber gaskets. The design supports outdoor use and frequent transport. Five devices in the documented deployment travel between venues and are set up by the event crew each week.

Start with the data your production needs

Tell us which wind sensors you use, where readings need to arrive, and the timing your production requires. We work through power, cabling, placement, and application integration as one system. The published case study explains the hardware choices and the resulting field workflow.

Need a meteorologist reading it?

Our weather risk management consulting adds a certified consulting meteorologist, a Weather Action Plan, and event monitoring on top of the station.

Common questions

Does the broadcast system depend on cellular coverage?
The system in our broadcast case study uses Ethernet, with no Wi-Fi or LTE dependency for its sensor data connection. We select connectivity around the requirements of each deployment.
How quickly does wind data reach the booth?
The published broadcast deployment achieves under one second from sensor to broadcast booth. Timing for a new system depends on its sensor, network, and receiving application, and is part of the project requirements.
Can the same devices move between events?
Yes. The documented devices were designed for weekly venue changes, with a compact enclosure and durable connectors to support repeated transport, setup, and teardown.
